On a hot summer’s day in Stellenbosch, nothing quenches the thirst like a good bottle of wine…
So off we go on a typical December day, 30 degrees outside and too hot to stay at home. We took the doggies for a quick cool down at Helderberg Farm where they just love diving into the cool water at the dam. After the cool down, it was the Humans turn for some spoiling so off we go to Warwick Wine Estate.
We received a very warm greeting, immediately feeling at home. The deck for the wine tasting is under the trees, offering complete shade, quickly forgetting about the scorching sun. The doggies were so relaxed they quickly passed out next to the table.
We booked a “First Lady Tasting“, and what a treat it was. The sparkling wine was our favorite followed by 3 white and 2 red wines. To accompany the wine we decided to book a Charcuterie platter. We were pleasantly surprised when it arrived making the perfect lunch.
I must say we were very envious of the guests that booked a picnic basket. The picnic spots next to the dam looked idyllic, we will definitely be back for one.
There is also a lovely play area for the children making this a perfect family destination. We did not see any resident dogs at the farm, so as long as your fur babies are on the lead they are welcome. My suggestion is to phone ahead of time and book a table or picnic spot to avoid disappointment.
Open from 9am to 5pm, every day.
