Profile
Perched on a hilltop surrounded by fruit orchards and guarded over by the towering peaks of the Winterhoek Mountains, the cul de sac valley location of Fisaasbos is hard to beat.

Total Tranquility
Ever have that article you struggle to write, the book you just don’t get too finish, the painting you just don’t paint, Fisaasbos is the answer to all your problems.
Fisaasbos house offers 3 bedrooms on the side of the Wintershoek Mountains with unspoiled view’s of the Tulbagh valley, with a big fenced yard dogs are free to roam without having to worry about them.
We recommend booking Fisaasbos if you are a big family or two couples with children. Fisaasbos offers fireplaces in all the bedrooms for those cold winter nights and a nice big braai outside. Families are welcome to explore the farm on foot, there are endless possibilities in all directions.
We were lucky to have a perfect winter’s day, with a blanket under the trees, a good book and a glass of wine, the dogs and I were quite happy just enjoying the country life and not going anywhere.
We started the Saturday by doing the park run at Duikersdrift, don’t let the cold scare you as the restaurant has two fireplaces waiting for you upon your return. The breakfast is something dreams are made off, and definitely worth a visit. What is a trip to Tulbagh without going to some wine farms?
Due to the fact that there was a wedding, we did not visit Mont Pellier but heard from the management itself that they are pet friendly.
One of the things that I will always remember about Tulbagh is the little organic market at Vindoux, walking in there you have a choice between fresh vegetables, Curry and Rice, Coffee, and something that caught my eye was the 2 little girls with their Lemonade Stand.
On our way back to Fisaasbos we went past Theuniskraal where we enjoyed some great wines. The old one eye resident Jack Russel was very friendly and did not mind sharing his wine farm with our three.
It was too cold to braai on Saturday so we headed off to the Tulbagh Hotel for supper, we were lucky to get a table outside without booking and enjoyed the delicious food.
Sunday morning we had a long walk on the farm to stretch the legs before packing the car, for some or other reason, no matter how big the yard is my lot still insist on a walk.
We stopped at Things I love for breakfast, they offer in or outside balcony and lawn tables, the breakfast and coffee were great and they also have lovely gifts inside.
Before heading home we had to do one more wine farm, so stopped at Saronsberg for one last wine tasting. Sitting outside overlooking the dam and mountains, this is one of my favourite wine farms in Tulbagh.
It is a pity there was no snow this time, but if you need a quick weekend away without traveling too far, then Tulbagh should definitely be added to your shortlist.
