Very often when you arrive at a restaurant with dogs you have to sit outside. This was not the case when we arrived at the Hickville Smokehouse pet-friendly restaurant on a very hot day. We received a warm greeting from the staff and were informed that we could sit on the covered stoep area with our dogs.
The stoep overlooked the smokehouse and the play area, the craft beer and cider room were just out of sight.
It was very difficult deciding what to eat as everything looked divine, we eventually settled on Nachos with Smoked Pork and Smoked Pork Ribbs. One thing you need to know when visiting the Hickville Smokehouse is to go hungry as the portions are generous.
Unfortunately, there are no hiking trails from the restaurant, but don’t let that stop you from making this a destination. We took the dogs for a lovely walk around the play area (no kids while we were there). Due to the alcohol lockdown, the beer room was closed, which just means we will have to go back for a craft beer and cider tasting.
Grabouw country club is very close to the Hickville Smokehouse, so you can go for a good walk with the dogs (while building up your appetite) before going for lunch.
When the meals arrived we started changing our super plans as we knew we would not likely be hungry yet; all the same, we tucked into one of the best meals we have had in a long time. You know when you look at a menu to decide what you like? well, here you are deciding what not to have, as everything looked great.
We will definitely be back again and again! The Hickville Smokehouse pet-friendly restaurants will more than likely become the spot to stop whenever we head East on one of K-9 Adventures’ many trips.
