You know a place comes highly recommended when it is your 3rd visit and you keep going back.
Tulbagh Valley has so much to offer, and one of our favorite stays are Vindoux Cottages.
From Self Catering Cottages, treehouses and a spa, you cannot ask for more.
Although they only have 1 cottage with an enclosed yard (for the roaming pooches), the other self-catering cottages are still pet friendly. Each cottage has its own neat outside braai and if you did not have time to go buy your meat and salads, Vindoux Kitchen offers the most delicious homemade potato salad (there are other salads available as well, but the potatoe salad is my favorite) and braai packs (which come with braai salt and spices), just remember to pre-order.
During our first stay at Vindoux 2 years ago we decided to be lazy and ordered breakfast. We collected our breakfast from the restaurant kitchen close by and had it at our cottage . The breakfast consisted of 2 heart shaped trays with yogurt, fresh farm bread and butter, cold meats, cheese, nuts and so much more, there was so much food on the tray we could not finish it. What a great breakfast and everything was reasonably priced.
After breakfast we explored the farm, doing about 3 – 5 km between the vineyards and neighboring farms. The spa comes highly recommended if you feel like a pamper session. Each session at the spa includes some time in the hot tub (for R 100 extra you get bubbly and chocolates in the hot tub)
Every first Saturday of the month there is also a farmer’s market at Vindoux, offering only the freshest of fruit, vegetables, and everything you expect at a farmers market (including the little girls with the lemonade stand).
Vindoux Cottages are located a stone’s throw from some of the wine farms and the Tulbagh Parkrun.
